“Valkyries”
In 789AD the Viking nations began a series of raids against the Eastern coast of Britain.
Their longships, able to navigate narrow rivers as well as the open sea, took them into the heart of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.
In small skirmishes at first they fought the local armies, knowing that if they died sword in hand, they would be transported by the mythical Valkyries to their warriors’ heaven, Valhalla.
This is the story of one
such Viking raid...
