Remains of the Roskilde 6 Ship on display in the Viking Exhibition in the Nationamuseet

Title

Remains of the Roskilde 6 Ship on display in the Viking Exhibition in the Nationamuseet

Description

Roskilde 6 was discovered in 1997 during work to extend the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. The 37 meter Viking warship is the largest yet discovered, and had apparently been wrecked on the shore near Roskilde. Only 20% of the timbers survived, but these included most of the keel and wood of the highest quality which was dated to c. 1025. It was the centrepiece of the Viking exhibition at the Nationalmuseet in 2013.
