Hurstwic: Rowing a Viking Ship
Documentary films
Hurstwic recently conducted some rowing experiments aboard a reproduction Viking ship to learn more about how Viking-age sailors may have rowed their ships. The data collected from our measurement devices allows us to form some speculative conclusions. The video shows our experiments and our data analyses.

News: DNA Hunters have opened Viking grave in Normandy
News
Norwegian researchers have finally been able to open the tomb of descendants of the Viking leader Hrólfr (Rollo). They plan to find out if Rollo was the same as Hrólfr from Møre. If he is, this would mean that the British royal family originated from Norway, and that the Norwegian royal family has a much older lineage than is currently believed to be the case.

Forging a Viking Age Shield Boss
Documentary films
The following clip shows an attempt at reconstructing a Viking Age shield boss (type R564). The purpose of the forging was to better understand the various steps involved in shield boss construction processes by experimental archaeology.
This has served to bring out a number of new aspects in Viking Age round shield research (http://combatarchaeology.org/research-2/round-shields-and-martial-practices-of-the-viking-age/).
This part of the project was undertaken in collaboration with blacksmith Tord Bergelin (Thor's Forge) and the Holma Foundation.
