Description
Replicas of placards used during the demonstrations against the development of the Wood Quay site in Dublin in the 1970s. Dublin City Council's Civic Offices were built on the site of Viking Dublin, after some of the most important excavations of a Viking-Age settlement had revealed the wealth of artefacts in the area and preservation of the original layout of the city. The protests did not succeed in stopping the development, but they did raise awareness of the public appetite for preserving national heritage.
