The ship and bird designs are based on drawings recovered in excavations of the Norse site at Jarlshof, Shetland (items <a href="http://www.worldtreeproject.org/document/2352" target="_blank">#2352</a> and <a href="http://www.worldtreeproject.org/document/2353">#2353</a>).
