News: Did Leif Erikson once live in Cambridge, Massachusetts?
Subject
The topic of the resource
News
Description
An account of the resource
A discussion of the legendary Norse city of Norumbega, as postulated by Prof. Eben Norton Horsford. Horsford was an early food chemist who became an amateur archaeologist. He claimed to have found Norse artefacts in Cambridge MA, and put a plaque there to celebrate his discovery. He also had a tower built a few miles away on the spot he claimed was a Viking fort and city, and had a statue of Leif Erikson that still stands on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston.
