Fishamble street was in the eastern side of the settlement, with Winetavern Street marking the western side. Dublin City Council's Civic Offices now cover most of this area. Fishamble street saw excavations in the late 1970s and 80s which uncovered remarkably preserved building plots from the Viking town.
