Archaeological artefacts
On the photo are (from upper left corner):
- miniature spearhead;
- miniature lead anchor;
- Thor's hammer;
- awl with handle made of polished reed deer antler;
- patrix bearing Thor's hammer;
- Gotland's box brooch;
- hanging lamp made of clay;
These artefacts have been found in Århus (Árós in the Viking Age). Currently they are displayed on permanent exhibition in the Moesgård Museum.

Viking extras sought for performance of novel Røde Orm (Red Serpent)
News story
”Are you a Viking? Be an extra in MoMu’s ’Red Serpent’ spectatular.”
Article in Danish regional newspaper Århus Stiftstidende (26/9/16) about Moesgaard Museum’s call for extras for a performance based on Frans G. Bengtsson’s novel Røde Orm (Red Serpent). It will be performed on the museum’s grass-covered roof in May-June 2017 as part of the Aarhus 2017 - European Cultural Capital celebrations.

Original discovered 1849 by a farmer on his land between Jelling and Århus. Erected by a freed slave. <br /><br />According to the <em>Samnordisk runtextdatabas</em> the inscription reads:<br /><br /> <strong>tuki : smiþr : riþ : stin : ift ¶ þurkisl : kuþmutaR : sun : is : hanum ¶ kaf : kul : uk : frialsi</strong> <br /><br /><em>Tóki Smiðr reisti stein ept Þorgísl Guðmundar son, er honum gaf gull(?) ok frelsi.</em> <br /><br />Tóki Smith raised the stone in memory of Þorgísl Guðmundr's son, who gave him gold(?) and freedom.

Stairway to the past - entrance to Vikingemuseet Århus Denmark
Excavation sites
Entrance to Vikingemuseet, underneath Nordea bank in centre of Århus, Denmark. A three-metre descent by stairs into original Viking Aros (Århus) town - as you walk down past the original layers of earth, stone and human debris, years on the steps mark the passage of time.
Exhibit: both replicas and original artefacts found at the site. Some replicas because open exhibit, no/little security. Guided tours possible but otherwise no personnel on site. Free entry to public during bank's opening hours. www.vikingemuseet.dk
