Subject

Reconstructed Viking Ships

Description

The Freja Byrding is an accurate reconstruction of Skuldelev 3, discovered in the Roskilde Fjord barrier and housed in the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. The Viking Ship Museum has its own replica of this small 14 meter Viking cargo vessel (dating to c. 1030), the 'Roar Ege'. The ship is a very stable coastal trading vessel and can be crewed by 5-8 people, and is a regular sight in Danish waters during the summer months.
