Description
The Warning about Ragnarok' is a frieze by Dagfin Werenskiold that is displayed outside Oslo City Hall together with eleven other friezes of his. The friezes are made of pine deck timber, impregnated with linseed oil, and then painted and gilded with gold or silver. Garm, the dog that guards the underworld, dominates this frieze, as he howls to warn that Ragnarok has arrived. Around him are the three cocks that will crow to warn of the impending battle, and the giants that will fight the gods on the plain Vigrid.
