Anundshög runestone (Vs 13), Sweden
Title
Anundshög runestone (Vs 13), Sweden
Subject
Rune stones
Description
Rune stone next to the burial mounds and ship setting at Anundshög, c. 1000–1050. The rune stone was raised at the culmination of a row of standing stones, which may have marked the route of the 'Eriksgata', a royal procession route through the provinces of Sweden. Anundshög had been a centre of royal power in the pre-Viking period, though the date of the mound itself is uncertain. For more information about Anundshög, see the official website.
According to Rundata, the inscription reads:
× fulkuiþr × raisti × staina × þasi × ala × at × sun ×× sin × hiþin × bruþur × anutaR × uraiþr hik × runaR
Folkviðr reisti steina þessa alla at son sinn Heðin, bróður Ônundar. Vreiðr hjó rúnar.
Folkviðr raised all of these stones in memory of his son Heðinn, Ônundr's brother. Vreiðr cut the runes.
