Current data for Description

The Ramsund Rock Carving (Ramsundsberget), one of the most famous runic inscriptions in Sweden, depicting recognisable scenes from the Sigurd legend alongside a memorial inscription referring to the building of a bridge.

According to the Samnordisk runtextdatabas the inscription reads:

siriþr : kiarþi : bur : þosi : muþiR : alriks : tutiR : urms : fur * salu : hulmkirs : faþur : sukruþar buata * sis *

Sigríðr gerði brú þessa, móðir Alríks, dóttir Orms, fyrir sálu Holmgeirs, fôður Sigrøðar, bónda síns.

Sigríðr, Alríkr's mother, Ormr's daughter, made this bridge for the soul of Holmgeirr, father of Sigrøðr, her husbandman.
